THE QUESTION: Thoughts…? Or should I say concerns…?
‘The Inquisitor’ Commentary: Ok, so I guess Im a little behind future movie releases cause this is one I didnt know about…and now I’m concerned. Really…? A “contemporary re-imagining of Freddy Krueger” is how the synopsis describes it. Man, maybe Im just old school, but I dont think Hollywood should always retouch and remake the classics, which is exactly what the first Nightmare on Elm Street is…a classic. And to make matters even more nerve racking for build up…this film is being directed by a guy (Samuel Bayer) who has never directed a film before. Huh…? You are entrusting the Freddy fedora to a man who’s directed music videos…? I dont know if Im more scared of this or how this movie is gonna turn out…? I can only hope and pray…and thats what Im gonna do from now till this movie comes out (slated for April 2010).

‘The Inquisitor’ Commentary: No offense ladies and gentleman (but mostly just the ladies)…but this is exactly why I am not having daughters. A joke yes, but still, just sad too.

THE QUESTION: Have you seen this movie…?
‘The Inquisitor’ Commentary: If you havent, and you enjoy Japanese action movies, you should really check it out. The movie, Sukiyaki Western Django, is done by the brilliant Japanese director, Takashi Mike. Now the man has done many incredible movies that cross genres…from sci-fi to fantasy to horror to graphic action. Some of Mr. Mike’s more notable films like Ichi The Killer, D.O.A, Visitor Q are considered masterpieces of Japanese cinema. I cant say whether they are masterpieces or not, but I can say they are damn enjoyable to watch and Takashi’s movies ALWAYS keep you on your toes. lol. So, what do you think about any of Takashi Mike’s movies…?

THE QUESTION: How creepy is this…?

‘The Inquisitor’ Commentary: EXTREMELY. Invasion of privacy is something that should not be taken lightly. Miss Andrews is a great sports reporter who happens to be incredibly attractive, but that doesnt give anyone the right to violate her privacy. To go out of your way to drill a hole in a hotel room door just to get a peek of her…wow. I know there are some desperate people out there, but seriously, just to get some peeks of her in the nude…? As a guy I love to see women in all their splendor just as much as the next, but this…this is just pretty damn sad if you ask me. I just cant help but think about the guy (or guys) that did this and what they were thinking. How pathetic were you not to be able to go meet a real woman (or at least go pay for one since this incident happened in Las Vegas) and see what might happen…! Good luck not getting caught…NOT…!

‘The Inquisitor’ Commentary: Wow…so I have been blogging much less these days, which can be seen as good and bad I guess. Good because that means Im busy with work and makin that almighty $$$. Bad because it means Im not getting to talk about a lot of stuff thats going on in The Inquisitor’s brain…which is a ton of stuff these days. So, I’ve got to find a wayt to get back to blogging more, which I am definitely going to do…starting today.

THE QUESTION: Would you like a refreshing summer drink…?
‘The Inquisitor’ Commentary: Well…here it is…the Jalapeno Pineapple Mojito. Oh it is a lil spicy and a lil sweet, but super refreshing and tasty. Its made with bits of jalapeno, pineapple and mint all muddled together with a light rum, then a splash of Malibu Rum, simple sugar and club soda. Enjoy…!

Movies that cause brain cell loss...

THE QUESTION: How many silly, brain cell reducing movies can one person watch in a day…?

‘The Inquisitor’ Commentary: At least 4…before the brain cells really start disintegrating. LOL. So, yesterday I watched, in order…

  • Half Baked
  • Hamlet 2
  • How to Lose Friends and Alienate People
  • Spies Like Us
  • Cannonball Run
  • The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai

Now…what you should know is I think all those movies are absolutely classic and I love them. Its ok, if one day every so often, you let your brain get turned into complete mush…especially if you can be laughing hysterically at the same time. Oh, and seeing Megan Fox, it’s like dessert. LOL. :)

BTW, if you havent seen Hamlet 2…wow. Very very funny. Steve Coogan is a riot and the movie is an absolute trip.

THE QUESTION: What the hell is this you ask…?
‘The Inquisitor’ Commentary: I like to think I know a little about wine. Expert…of course not. But, I have been drinking it for years. Ive been to wineries all over the US, tasted many different styles and varietals, and think that I have a pretty good palate. But seeing this today at Whole Foods, I just had to sit back and wonder “does the douche empire that is Ed Hardy have no bounds these days…?” I guess not. Are you kidding me…? You wanted over $100 some dollars for a tee shirt but you charge $9.99 for your wine…? I want to make pretend this was all a dream…but it wasnt because there was actually three different kinds of Ed Hardy wine for sale. Heaven help us.

The Proposal Movie Review

‘The Inquisitor’ Commentary: No offense but I didn’t know that Betty White was still alive…and good thing she is because she is still a very funny lady…especially in the movie “The Proposal,” which I saw yesterday. This movie is a pretty standard fare romantic comedy that stars Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock. Bullock plays a heartless boss of a NYC book firm and Reynolds is her kiss-butt assistant. Everyone despises Bullocks character, including Reynolds’ even though he has to be the kiss-butt guy to get where he wants to go. When Bullock’s character finds out that she is about to be deported for not having a valid US visa, she and Reynolds concoct a scheme to get married. The romantic comedy part of the story ensues after that has they have to go visit his parents/family in a remote small town in Alaska. Take a big city, tough ass business woman and put her with a sensitive small town roots guy who left home with aspirations of grandeur…and you get…this movie The Proposal. This movie also has Craig T. Nelson (another person who I hadnt seen in anything in years), Mary Steenburgen (most recently the mom from “Step Brothers), Malin Akerman (hottie from “Watchmen”) and of course Betty White, who plays a very funny role as Reynolds’ grandmother.

While not the funniest romantic comedy I’ve seen, The Proposal has its moments, including a couple very memorable ones, like watching Sandra do some booty droppin dance moves (yep…you heard that correctly…lol). So, go check out a matinee of it…I give “The Proposal” ** 1/2 stars out of five.

Moon Movie Review

‘The Inquisitor’ Commentary: I know, that from now on, I should only ever walk into movies with completely empty levels of expectation about them. I should even try knowing very little about them as well. In this way, I will always be surprised…good or bad. Why am I mentioning this first…? Because I just saw the movie “Moon,” with Sam Rockwell, and I had very little expectation and knew very little about the movie other than it was a sci-fi/thril-rama. This served me well I think because I really enjoyed the movie.

Its about Sam (Sam Rockwell) working for a fusion power company who collects power from the moon, where Sam is stationed. While stationed there, Sam has contact with no humans, only a single AI machine, voiced by Kevin Spacey. After an accident, Sam finds out some very strange and startling details about his life on the moon and his existence on Earth with his family. I dont want to say too much more other than it’s interesting to watch it unfold. The whole movie basically takes place on the moon and is really centered around just a few characters. There was a movie that came out a couple of years ago called Bug with Ashley Judd that was made in a similar fashion (one primary location focus and very few characters) so if you have seen it, you’ll know the feeling.

Moon kept me intriguing all the way thru with the story, the diglogue, and the performance of Rockwell. It’s very much an independent movie so you might not have it at many mainstream theaters unless you are in a big city. But its worth taking a chance on for a matinee. I give Moon *** out of five stars.
